Late Night Ride is just one of many options

By Letter Writer

Last weekend’s article regarding issues with the Late Night Ride Service brought up a valid point about the long wait times that many people experience while using the service.

Last Friday, the Student Association Mass Transit Board met with Sgt. Alan Smith to discuss Late Night Ride.

The committee concluded that students should be informed of all the transportation options available to them.

Late Night Ride is just one of the many options available for NIU students.

Any NIU student needing a ride can use the Huskie Bus Line and TransVAC, and the Huskie Student Patrol is available for students who do not wish to walk alone at night.

The Huskie Bus Line is especially convenient. The buses are about to get a real-time GPS tracking system and Wi-Fi. There will be a free app for your cell phone that enables you to monitor the buses.

If you need to go somewhere, it’s likely that the buses can take you there.

You can use the 4 routes to take you around campus, and the 7 route goes to many of the places you go, such as Target, Walmart, Jewel and Burger King.

Late Night Ride is a great service, and anyone who needs to use it is always encouraged to do so.

However, using the Huskie Bus Line and other transportation options is convenient, and it reduces the wait time for Late Night Ride.
