Campus crime blotter for Feb. 9

Feb. 1

• At 3:00 a.m., Marcus Branch, 19, of South Holland, Ill., was found to be in possession of cannabis. This case is cleared with an adult arrest for possession of cannabis 30 grams and under.

Saturday

• At midnight, an officer saw a student concealing a bottle of brandy beneath his jacket and referred him to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for illegal consumption/possession of alcohol by a minor. The student voluntarily disposed of the alcohol.

• At 1:31 a.m., while on patrol in the Douglas Hall lobby, an officer observed an individual who appeared to be intoxicated. Upon further investigation, it was determined the individual had consumed alcoholic beverages and was under the legal age for consuming alcohol. The individual was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for illegal possession by a minor.

• At 2:05 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with no headlights. Alexander Dreyer, 29, of DeKalb, was found with contraband and arrested for unlawful possession of cannabis 30 grams and under.

• At 11:16 p.m., while on patrol, an officer recognized an individual who needed to speak with the police regarding an ongoing investigation. In addition, the individual was banned from all NIU property and had a warrant out for his arrest. Marcus Branch, 19, of South Holland, Ill., was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to state supported property. This case is closed via adult arrest.
