The Rant: Did you not get the memo?

By Shaun Zinck

Portland Trail Blazers forward Nicolas Batum told The Oregonian after Monday night’s win against the Bulls that guard Derrick Rose couldn’t play defense. Less than 24 hours later, Batum took to Twitter claiming his words had been taken out of context.

The truth is, he did say it. The exact quote being, “He can’t guard [Andre Miller]. You gotta play defense. He can’t play defense, so that’s why we put ‘Dre inside and try to attack him.”

Apparently Rose took it personally because with just over a minute left in a game against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night, he stripped guard Deron Williams of the ball, preserving a 91-86 win.

He attempted to make peace by apologizing to Bulls fans and blaming the media. Either stick to what you originally said or admit you were wrong.
