Student upset over football parking rules

By Letter Writer

Dear NIU Parking Services,

I am a senior living in Lincoln Hall.

As you can see, I have not been disappointed with Housing and

Dining or Parking Services in the past (I’m still living in the

dorms, after all).

However, I have to say that your

football game day rules are not well designed. I have a reserved

parking space in the Rec Center lot, a space that I paid an extra

$160 for. When I returned from my off-campus class Tuesday, the

attendant stationed at the end of Lucinda Avenue would not let me

park in my space. I understand that an exemption from rules often

causes chaos, but this rule simply does not make sense.

Why must I park in another lot, when

no one else will be allowed to park in my spot, and by doing this,

I will take up valuable parking that someone else could be using?

I would appreciate a logical explanation to this quandary.
