DeKalb County is under severe thunderstorm watch until 3 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for DeKalb County south of NIU until 3 p.m., according to a weather report by NIU meteorologist Gilbert Sebenste.

The report stated the warning is likely to be extended though.

According to the report, two other severe thunderstorms were noted in Illinois. One over northwest Ogle County heading for Rockford. The other is over northeastern Bureau County. Both thunderstorms over Bureau and DeKalb Counties can produce tornadoes and golf ball sized hail, according to the release. Those south of I-88 in DeKalb County are at the highest risk of severe weather over the next two hours, the release stated.
