Letter to the Editor: T-shirts will not stop MRSA
October 4, 2010
I am writing in regards to the article on wearing shirts at the Rec. I have e-mailed them three times and have been ignored. I did research on MRSA and learned that this rule does not protect us from MRSA and that there are much better ways in preventing MRSA at our Rec center.
In my e-mail, I stated this information, explained and cited my findings on how this rule helps nothing, and even gave ways to effectively reduce the chances of a MRSA infection. Instead we go with a rule that makes the Rec center a place to hide your hard work.
If you have an intimidating body, you probably worked for many years to obtain it. Why should you be forced to hide it because someone is at the starting point of the same journey that you are on? This rule is a joke and needs to be changed.
If such a concern for MRSA led to this decision, why doesn’t the Rec use other means of reducing the risk? Clearly whoever decided to put this rule in effect has no idea how a gym operates.
