Beer of the Week: Leffe Blonde

By DAN STONE

Leffe Blonde is a sweet, malt-tasting Belgian Pale Ale. It has a very clean and smooth mouth feel for such a full-bodied beer. Though the brew does not have much of an aftertaste, the relatively high alcohol content leaves the mouth very dry after drinking.

The Good: The beer has a very light aftertaste that leaves the slightest hint of malt sweetness. Additionally, the dense body of the beer makes it a great combination with a meal.

The Bad: The taste of the beer is pretty simplistic and won’t appeal to the hardcore beer enthusiast.

The Cost: $8.99 for a six-pack

The Recommendation: Leffe Blonde is an ideal brew for someone that despises strong aftertastes. Though the lack of an aftertaste seems inviting, the beer is far too dense as an introduction to beer.

The Bottom Line: Leffe Blonde will appeal to fans of Belgian and Belgian-style brews. It’s not as sweet-tasting as the common Belgian-style American beers but nowhere near as strong as most pale ales.
