Want to be Paris Hilton’s BFF?

Sometimes I wonder if TV stations begin to run out of creative ideas for shows. Within in the last few years, it seems that stations are coming up with the most obscure ideas just to catch an audience, which often results in shows that are nothing more than people acting stupidly.

I was watching TV tonight and I just happened to catch a new show on MTV, entitled, “Paris Hilton’s: My New BFF.” The show follows Paris on her journey to find a new BFF (best friend forever). This first episode was simply a casting episode where the contestants were highlighted. The girls (and guys) are given challenges by Paris throughout the season and are kicked off, one by one, with the final contestant becoming Paris’s new BFF.

Yes, shows like this catch an audience, because I’m not going to lie, this show caught mine. At the same time, though, I was thinking, “How real can this show be?” and “Why do viewers really care who Paris chooses as a new best friend?” I’m not sure I’ll be waiting around to catch the show each week.
