Track of the Day: “Banana Pancakes” – Jack Johnson

Since pancakes are probably one of the best comfort foods, it makes sense that a song about them would be just as comforting.

Off his 2005 album, “In Between Dreams,” “Banana Pancakes” is a feel-good serenade. In the song, Johnson sings to his significant other about how she shouldn’t go to work; that instead, he will make her banana pancakes and they can spend the day together.

The song starts off slow with Johnson’s acoustic guitar, but soon picks up. From there, it keeps a steady pace, guided along by Johnson’s soothing voice.

“Banana Pancakes” follows an upbeat, relaxing melody infused with Johnson’s own Hawaiian influences threaded through the lyrics and instruments.

The song’s comforting qualities will make anyone want to stay inside on a rainy day, especially when Jack Johnson or banana pancakes are involved – or maybe both.

Not only is Jack Johnson a good-looking surfer from Hawaii, but he knows his way around the guitar and he’s quite a crooner. Showing Johnson’s sensitive side, “Banana Pancakes” makes you smile the whole way through.
