‘P2’ doesn’t impress

Rating: 2/10

Staring: Wes Bentley and Rachel Nichols

Plot: Christmas has arrived and businesswoman Angela Bridges (Nichols) is in a hurry to leave work and get home to her family. As she walks out to her car on level P2 of a parking garage, Angela’s car refuses to start. With a stalker watching her and no way to leave the parking garage, Angela faces the most terrifying time of her life.

The Good: The only good aspects of P2 were the adrenaline rushes and captivating acting. Bentley offers an amazing performance as an unreadable security guard who, in the beginning, leaves the viewer to question his intentions.

The Bad: When Angela’s car fails to start, the thought never occurs to her that she should call her family and tell them what is happening.

She trusts the help of a stranger unbelievably easily, and her whole office building is ridiculously shut down so she has no way of leaving, even from the inside.

The worst part of the film is a gory scene between the revealed stalker and a man from her work who hit on her at the office Christmas party.

The Low-Down: P2 is a waste of 98 minutes and a pathetic attempt to be a thriller. The only way the film receives a few points is director Franck Khalfoun’s scene setting.

Using the parking garage setting, the film becomes more realistic and makes the viewer not want to leave the comfort of the theater to go out to the car.

As Angela does her best to fight back against her stalker to escape P2, the film fails to improve. Angela’s character is believable, but she frustrates the audience by suddenly going from terrified to bold. The only reason for watching this film is if all others are sold out, and even then, there might be a better horror film on television.
