This week in TV – Desperate Housewives

By LINDSEY KASTNING

On beautiful Wisteria Lane the enticing lies, scandals, affairs and ailments continue to season four of ABC’s “Desperate Housewives.”

Edie (Nicollette Sheridan), Susan (Terri Hatcher), Bree (Marcia Cross), Lynette (Felicity Huffman) and Gabby (Eva Longoria Parker) bring their gossip to a new level as their new neighbor Katherine (Dana Delaney) shakes things up along with the life-partner couple Bob (Tuk Watkins) and Lee (Kevin Rahm).

In this past Sunday’s episode, Bob and Lee place a hideous statue in their yard that not only looks ugly, but also doubles as an annoying fountain. The ladies of Wisteria Lane gather together to admire the couple’s “piece of art.”

Agreeing that the fountain must go, the newest member, Katherine, who has returned to Wisteria Lane after leaving for a job that didn’t work out in Chicago, nominates herself to reform the Homeowner’s Association.

She declares that after the election, her first duty will be to get rid of the fountain.

At the same time, Lynette is still struggling to fight her cancer and give the illusion of being a healthy mom.

Tired of hearing about all the “sick business”, the children retreat to their treehouse and tell Lynette that she is banned from the treehouse unless she promises not to talk about cancer or doctors.

It is in that moment that Lynette blames herself for what she believes is ruining her children’s childhood. Lynette decides to run against Catherine in an attempt to save the treehouse for her children.

As if the drama was not at its peak, Bree and Orson (Kyle MacLachlan) have to deal with Bree’s conniving mother-in-law from her previous marriage.

Of course it would fail to be Wisteria Lane if there was a lack of a love affair.

Gabby and Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) continue to sneak around behind their partners’ backs.

Meanwhile Katherine becomes president of the Homeowner’s Association and finally acts like a neighbor in telling Lynette that her children can keep their treehouse.

The episode concludes with our familiar narrator stating that the secrets on Wisteria Lane are only safe for the moment. This coming Sunday’s 8 p.m. episode is definitely going to be thrilling.
