Monster Madness – The Creeping Terrors

First and only appearance: “The Creeping Terror” (1964)

Appearance: Imagine a giant slug made with sewn-together bed sheets, carpet samples and joke-shop knick-knacks.

Origin: Vague. Apparently it traveled from a far-off galaxy to crash-land its space ship in Lake Tahoe, Calif.

Abilities: Its attack pattern is remarkably consistent and surprisingly effective. Starting by awkwardly stalking the outdoors in search of tourists, townspeople and necking teenagers, it lumbers along until it finds victims. The victims, in complete shock of seeing such a feat of poor production design, are stunned into lying still, screaming and holding their hands up in fear. The terror sloooowly (can’t emphasize this enough) gets close enough so that the victim can helpfully climb into its mouth and be devoured, head first.

Purpose: Allegedly, it eats earthlings and sends information about their chemical structure to its home planet, possibly in preparation for a full-scale invasion.
