President

Dion Smith

Year: senior

Major: political science

1.) What are your goals for CAB?

“My goals are to reach out to the non-traditional students, enhance weekend programming and make NIU campus activities fun and open to all.”

2.) What qualifications do you have to represent the student body at NIU?

– Former SA director of student life

– Member of NAACP and judicial board

– SA senator for three years

– Vice-chairman of the Convocation board for two years

– Black Student Union treasurer for two years

– Campus Activities Board president for two years

3.) What, in particular, can you offer the student body in this position?

“I can offer my experience from already serving in this position. During my previous terms, I have compiled data of what NIU students are looking for educationally and socially. Also, the campus is culturally diverse, so if you reach out to different people, they are more inclined to participate.”

Vice President of Programming candidates

Chasity Simon

Year: senior

Major: family-individual development

1.) What are your goals for CAB?

– Be more diverse by having a plethora of programs.

– Advertise events where we will have a large amount of students at each event which will interest them to get involved.

– Keep my staff motivated.

2.) What qualifications do you have to represent the student body at NIU?

“I have a great relationship with my peers, am highly involved and I am able to get students out to programs so they can see there are opportunities out there besides classes. I want students to get out of their comfort zones and support different things.”

3.) What, in particular, can you offer the student body in this position?

“I’m able to help all the AVPs and directors get all the essentials they need to have a successful program. If they need any support with programs or advice, I’m there 100 percent. I will keep them motivated and a high interest in their visions.”

1.) What are your goals for CAB?

– Keep up the current improvement in these offices while spreading the word about CAB.

– More diverse events to enrich the current culture.

– Getting more students involved in activities and events at NIU.

“The ratio of students that attend NIU versus the number who participate in on-goings (here) are not as great as they can be. I would like to see that changed.”

1.) What are your goals for CAB?

– Bring in new and diverse programs to the NIU community.

– Increase student awareness of programs on campus.

2.) What qualifications do you have to represent the student body at NIU?

“I currently serve as vice president of administration and have previously served as assistant vice president of public affairs for CAB. While serving in these positions, I have created many contacts with staff speakers and performers. I know the procedures and bylaws of the organization and I have been and will be able to follow and understand all guidelines.”

1.) What are your goals for CAB?

To create and maintain a cost effective system that would allow CAB to bring the best acts possible for the least cost to the students.

2.) What qualifications do you have to represent the student body at NIU?

– SA senator, 2005 through 2006

– CAB assistant vice president for corporate relations, 2006 to present

3.) What, in particular, can you offer the student body in this position?

“I have a variety of ideas for acts that many students want to see, but presently have been too expensive to get. I feel I can create a better budget that would allow these acts to come.”
