Bentley to take Convo stage Saturday

Dierks Bentley is “Locked & Loaded” to perform Saturday night at the Convocation Center.

The 2006 Country Music Awards “Male Vocalist of the Year” nominee will be joined by the Randy Rogers Band and Miranda Lambert. Tickets are $29.50 and $35. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with performances scheduled to begin an hour later.

In recent years, the Convo has booked at least one country music act a year, including Rascal Flatts and Brooks & Dunn. Kevin Selover, the Convocation Center’s assistant director of marketing, is satisfied that this go-round’s ticket sales are exceeding expectations.

“Fans are sure to get their money’s worth from this concert, with over three hours of live music,” said Selover.

The busy, multi-platinum artist continues to travel and perform. The singer/songwriter has logged more than 180,000 miles with 300 days on tour this year alone according to an official press release.

“I’ve really shaped my career around my live show because that’s where it started for me, playing for nothing but tip jars and alcohol,” said Bentley in the release.

Bud Light sponsors his current tour.

“It really is pretty cool to be aligned with such a well-known brand and one that has been involved in the careers of a couple guys I look up to, [George] Strait and [Tim] McGraw,” said Bentley.

The country artist’s third major label album was released last month. “Long Trip Alone” features the single “Every Mile a Memory.” Bentley’s self-titled album and sophomore release “Modern Day Drifter” both left a dent on charts with “What Was I Thinkin'” and “Come a Little Closer” as prominent tracks.

Opening act Miranda Lambert was nominated for the CMA Horizon Award. The Recording Industry Association of America recently certified her debut album “Kerosene” gold for the sale of more than 500,000. The Randy Rogers Band released its debut album in September.
