Student Life leader leaving NIU in August

Assistant Vice President of Student Life Michael Coakley will leave NIU at the end of August, it recently was announced.

Coakley has accepted the position of Executive Director of Housing and Dining at Arizona State University.

A national search will be conducted to find Coakley’s replacement, said Vice President of Student Affairs Brian Hemphill.

The search, however, will not begin until at least January and will continue until a successor is named. In the meantime, an interim NIU employee yet to be named will take over Coakley’s spot.

“Michael has made a great contribution to the NIU community over the last ten years,” Hemphill said. “He will be deeply missed.”

In his position, Coakley oversaw the departments of Housing and Dining, Student Involvement and Leadership Development and the Commuter and Non-Traditional Student Services office.
