Performers to go ‘La La’ for tickets to upcoming concert

Participants of the Ashlee Simpson Karaoke Night contest shouldn’t have any problems with lip syncing or acid reflux disease, especially since they only want to win tickets to see Simpson in concert.

NSRadio and the Campus Activities Board will hold the contest at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Holmes Student Center’s Diversions Lounge.

“It’s something CAB and the station came up with to promote the Ashlee Simpson concert,” said Deanna Cabinian, station manager at NSRadio.

The performer who can offer the best rendition of one of Simpson’s songs will win a pair of tickets to her March 29 performance at the Convocation Center.

Both CAB and NSRadio encourage those who don’t want to perform to come to the event and watch the contestants.

“Even if you’re not the biggest fan of Ashlee Simpson, you could be a fan of someone singing her songs better than she can,” said Hardeep Rooprai, CAB assistant vice president of concept and design.

The contest is free and will be judged by five disc jockeys from NSRadio.

“We have a couple [people] signed up, and we want a lot more to sign up,” said Rooprai. “It’s a great opportunity to win tickets.”

Those who wish to sign up can call 753-0715 or e-mail [email protected] to reserve a spot.
