SA hosts organizational fair

Tables with people handing out flyers and free stuff are lining the walls of the Stevenson Cafeteria this week.

The Student Association is hosting the first Spring Organizational Fair. The fair began Monday and will continue until Thursday afternoon.

The Residence Hall Association was in attendance and, in the Valentine’s Day spirit, was selling carnations at $1.25 a piece, as well as giving away free cups and pens.

One fraternity was handing out valentines to girls as they passed by.

Monday night the Groundhogs, a break dance group, performed in the dining area.

Daniel Jaquez, SA vice president, said turnout has been good. He said about 200 people showed up Monday for the fair and he expects a greater turnout in the next couple days.

The deadline for table registration ended Friday. After that, Jaquez allowed groups to register for multiple tables.

Program Production Services signed up for all four days.

David Rothenberg, assistant stage manager for Program Production Services, said the extra days would allow them to reach people who didn’t know who they are or what they do.

PPS handles all of the elements that go into a show including ticketing, marketing, soundstage and equipment.

Rothenberg said PPS mostly works with CAB, but it wants to branch out to help other organizations put on successful shows. He wants to attract new clients and find students interested in being a part of the organization.

The fair will continue in the cafeteria Wednesday and Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m.
