Department of Commuter and Non-Traditional Students

Troy Melendez, director of the department of commuter and non-traditional students, was invited to speak as part of the Prairie Leaders Lecture Series. He discussed what the department is planning to work on this semester. Melendez plans to put together programs and services for transfer and non-traditional students. One upcoming event is a housing fair in the Diversions Lounge from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Speaker Report

Speaker Jose Perez, a sophomore mathematics major, said he wanted to ease into the semester.

With the graduation of former Campus Activities Board President John Acardo, there are two open spots on the senate this semester. Perez said he hopes to have those positions filled by next week.

Absences

Perez asked senators to e-mail him how many absences they have so he could have them expunged. Five absences during a school year results in removal from the senate. Three in the same semester also will result in removal.

SA Vice President Daniel Jaquez gave an executive report. He said the SA will hold the first annual Spring Organizational Fair, which will begin Feb. 13 in the Stevenson Cafeteria from 3 to 7 p.m. and last four days.
