311 to play Convo Center in November

By Zak Quiggle

Popular reggae-rap rockers 311 are coming to the Convocation Center Nov. 6, according to the band’s Web site.

The Convocation Center has not confirmed the concert, but the date is listed on www.311.com and the band’s MySpace home page, www.myspace.com/311.

The band’s official site says tickets go on sale Sept. 24, but no price is listed.

The band has three shows remaining on its summer tour which wraps up Saturday in California. A fall tour will start Oct. 19 in San Diego and hit several college campuses, including Purdue University and the University of Illinois.

311 was formed in Omaha, Neb. in 1990, by front man Nick Hexum, guitarist Tim Mahoney and drummer Chad Sexton. Soon after, bassist Aaron “P-Nut” Wills and emcee Doug “SA” Martinez joined the band.

The band has put out more than a dozen releases, including full-length LPs such as “Music,” “Grassroots,” and “311,” with the most recent, “Don’t Tread On Me,” released Aug. 16.

The music is listed as rock to rap, reggae to punk, and funk to ska.

Neither Ticketmaster and concert-index Pollstar list the show.
