American Hi-Fi: Hearts on Parade

By Lindsey Rosati

“He’s too stoned,” must have been the state of mind for American Hi-Fi while working on their third album, “Hearts on Parade.”

American Hi-Fi is no longer the flavor of the week on their third album. Their songs are almost as ridiculous as Good Charlotte’s.

Frontman Stacy Jones’ whine gets annoying after the first three tracks, once again complaining about his ever continuing girl problems.

The opening track “Maybe Won’t Do” sounds like a bad Duran Duran song with a bit of Maroon 5.

“The Geeks Get the Girls,” is the first single of the band’s third album, which can be summed up as a bad attempt to sound like Blink 182.

Why must pop/punk bands insist on rapping on at least one of their songs?

“We Can’t Be Friends” does just that, as Jones attempts to bust out a little rhyme or two. Didn’t he learn his lesson when he tried rapping on their last album?

It is apparent that American Hi-Fi is still searching for its own identity.

But for now, you can just throw them in with other mediocre acts like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan.
