“Kiss the Bride”

By Marcus Leshock

The story of four young women struggling to come to terms with their traditional Italian parents, “Kiss The Bride” quickly loses the theme of cultural identity and soon becomes the story of four young women struggling against the omnipresent Los Angeles lifestyle in the middle of Rhode Island. The movie is occasionally charming and even touching but rarely profound. The movie’s climax is also considerably more well-paced and well-written than the rest of the movie. The DVD includes interviews with Vanessa Parise, who wrote, directed, produced and starred in the film. The interviews might add to one’s appreciation of the film, but the DVD remains overall a very threadbare product. Overall, this movie is a good rental, but there are far too few moments in the film that actually warrant a purchase.
