Eminem: Encore (3-1/2 Stars)

With Eminem’s sixth album, “Encore,” he is, as usual, blunt, real, derogative and racy while effectively including substantial content.

“Spend Some Time” features 50 Cent, Stat Quo and Obie. The fellas take poke fun at groupies who use artists to get ahead.

Hearing about Eminem in the news isn’t surprising. He even makes fun of the recently hurt feelings of Michael Jackson.

If his music isn’t your cup of tea, the creative beats and content is at least entertaining and comical in several tracks, especially “Ass Like That.”

Despite Eminem’s explicit lyrics, he dedicates “Toy Soldiers” to squashing murders over words, asking, “It used to be time when you could just say a rhyme/And wouldn’t have to worry about one of your people dying/It’s a different ball game, call names and you ain’t just rapping.”

In “Mosh,” he reflects on the government, saying “Don’t matter what color/All that matters is we gathered together/To celebrate for the same cause, no matter the weather/They ain’t gonna stop us/They can’t/We’re stronger now more than ever.”

Needless to say, Eminem keeps to his word through his own medium.
