Football tickets still available

There are still about 4,000 student tickets available for Friday’s football game against Bowling Green.

Students may pick up tickets from the Convocation Center box office Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; or at the Holmes Student Center, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A valid NIU OneCard is needed to get the tickets.

Students can also pick up tickets on the game day, but this may not be the best idea.

“Picking tickets up early will save time waiting in line,” said Assistant Athletic Director Sheila Berg.

Ticket purchases have been slow this week, Berg said.

“There are plenty of guest tickets available as well; I think only a couple hundred have been picked up,” Berg said.

Berg also said ticket sales were slow about two weeks ago as well. However, once word got out, more tickets were purchased.

One free ticket is available to each student. Four additional tickets for the student section can be purchased at a reduced price of $10. All other tickets are $17.

This Friday’s game will be on ESPN2.

“We want to have a packed stadium,” Berg said.

Huskie Stadium holds about 28,000 people.

“We realize Friday night is somewhat difficult to make it to a game, but are hoping to sell out,” Berg said. “It makes a difference to the team how many people show up to cheer them on.”
