Dance group to jazz up DeKalb

By Nicholas Alajakis

An energy-filled mix of jazz, ballet and modern dance will be performed today in DeKalb.

The Koresh Dance Company, based out of Philadelphia, will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St. The show is part of the Campus Activities Board’s Fine Arts Series.

Ronen Koresh, an Israeli-born choreographer, is the artistic director of the group, which currently is touring the United States. For more than 10 years, the troupe has mixed “jazz-inspired movements with ballet and modern dance.” It presents two home concerts every year and also performs at national dance festivals, university performance venues and charity benefits.

CAB brought the group to DeKalb to appeal to different tastes of dance and music, said Tami Marsiglio, CAB Fine Arts coordinator.

Ticket are available at the door or at the CAB box office at the Holmes Student Center’s Basement. They also can be charged by phone at 753-3146.
