8 cars vandalized at TKE house Sat.

DeKalb police are looking for leads in an investigation of 16 slashed tires at Tau Kappa Epsilon, 907 Greenbrier Road.

Sgt. James McDougall said two tires on each of eight cars were slashed sometime between 4 and 5 a.m. Saturday.

The suspects used a sharp object, most likely a knife, to rip a hole in the sidewall of each of the tires, he said.

McDougall said one person heard a noise outside the house about 4 a.m., but no one investigated.

When a member left in his car the next morning, he made it about half a block before he realized both his rear tires were slashed, said Sean O’Connor, senior visual communication major and Northern Star co-design manager.

“It’s just cowardly to go and do something like this,” O’Connor said.

O’Connor said they do not know who may have done it.

“You don’t go and slash all the tires in a parking lot and not touch any in the next one without having an agenda,” he said.

Most of the members have replaced their tires, senior marketing major Scott Parker said.

They filed insurance claims, but with a $500 deductible, it would not make much difference, Parker said.

“We’re all out a couple of hundred dollars,” he said.
