Vagina Seminar will answer questions H.S. left open

If your high school sex-ed class didn’t answer your curiosities about the female anatomy, now is the time to get accurate answers.

At 7:30 p.m. today at Faraday Hall, Room 143, the Women’s Alliance will sponsor the Vagina Seminar: Re-imaging Women’s Bodies.

“It’s everything you should have learned in health class, but didn’t,” said Sandi Caldrone, anthropology major and co-president of the Women’s Alliance.

The seminar not only will focus on female anatomy and how the sex organs work, but also on other women’s health issues as well, such as safety, enjoyment, STDs, contraception and masturbation.

Diana Swanson, the faculty adviser for the group, said that information not only will be about scientific aspects of women’s health, but also about the “experience and emotional aspects.”

Caldrone said that the presenters mostly are students who have been researching the various topics; however, a speaker from University Health Services will speak about female anatomy, and a counselor will discuss women’s abuse. By having students present this information, they are showing people that everyone can be an expert on this subject, Caldrone said.
