‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’

More than two years have passed since the last Harry Potter book, but “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” finally has been announced to go on sale June 21.

The fifth installment of Harry Potter will be 255,000 words long; which makes it 1/3 longer than the fourth book, and it will weigh in at a whopping 768 pages.

J. K. Rowling’s series has been on bestseller lists worldwide and hit the No. 1 spot in both America and Britain. In fact, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” is amazon.com’s top selling book, through preorders alone.

The book will be released in both Britain and America on the same day, and many stores already have begun offers for people who preorder the book.

Shane Lewis, manager of Borders Books & Music, 2520 Sycamore Road, admits he’s a huge fan of the series, and has some cool stuff planned for the release.

“We’re doing a midnight sale. I don’t know how it’ll go around here, but at our bigger stores, like in Geneva, hundreds of people have already preordered,” Lewis said.

Not only is Borders having the June 21 midnight sale, but by reserving a copy, customers can get 40 percent off.

The book is being released on a Saturday so children – and adults – don’t have to skip out on school or work.

Kim Maavich, Barnes & Noble’s assistant store manager, admits that they haven’t had much time to plan an event.

“Last time we did a big party at midnight,” Maavich said. She thinks that something similar will happen for the fifth book.

Regardless of the stores’ promotional sales, hundreds of thousands of fans have preordered their copies.

Price at most stores is unknown, though amazon.com is selling it for $17.97.Emily sullivan photo Illustration

The first four Harry Potter books have sold 80 million copies combined.
