Library adds artwork to walls

The next time you visit Founders Memorial Library, take a moment to admire the collection of artwork that graces its walls.

Located on the second and third floors, the collection includes works from well-known artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Jasper Johns, said Sara Werrbach, curator of the art collection in the library and a sophomore illustration major.

The collection also includes the work of some NIU students.

Sophomore history major David Shores described several pieces on the second floor as diverse.

“They almost all tell a story,” he said.

Charles Larry, head of the library’s social sciences and humanities department, said the collection is owned by the Student Association.

Werrbach has plans to change the collection in the future.

Werrbach hopes to form a committee that likely will communicate with faculty members to find the best, most educational range of artwork to display.
