Alleged victim takes the stand

A former NIU student who claims a Sycamore man raped her at his trailer park home last spring said during court testimony that he held her at gunpoint and raped her as she begged for mercy.

Todd Allgood, 34, a former NIU student from Mundelein, is charged with the April 25, 2001, kidnapping and sexual assault. The alleged victim said Allgood was the man who pointed a gun at her, forced her into his trailer home and then raped her.

“I said, ‘Take my car. Take my keys. Don’t hurt me.’ like a million times,” she said while on the stand.

Allgood’s trial started Tuesday at the DeKalb County Courthouse where prosecutors alleged that Allgood approached the victim on April 25, 2001, at the 1100 block of West Lincoln Highway with a gun.

Allgood has pleaded not guilty in the case.

The victim, who was 21 at the time, said at first she thought she was being robbed.

Allgood started out in the backseat of her car, pointing a .25-caliber handgun at her, Assistant State’s Attorney Clint Hull said.

With tears in her eyes, the victim then pointed to Allgood and said that he was the man who attacked her that day.

She said Allgood had the gun pointed at her the whole time they were in the trailer.

Allgood allegedly then forced her to disrobe and fondled her before forcing her to have intercourse. That was the only time Allgood didn’t have the gun pointed at her, she said.

“I obviously didn’t want to do it. So, it hurt really bad,” she said.

After the attack, Allgood then made her take a shower, she added.

Allgood allegedly forced the victim back into her car where he wiped down both the outside and inside of the vehicle, and made her drive away from DeKalb. While driving away, the victim said Allgood asked for her driver’s license. She said she didn’t have it and instead wrote her name on a piece of notebook paper, which Hull submitted as evidence.

She said she told Allgood things he wanted to hear in order to keep him from harming her.

“I said, ‘How could it be rape if I enjoyed it,’” she said she told him.

When her cell phone rang on their way back to DeKalb, the victim said she told Allgood she was late for work.

To prove to him that she was telling the truth, she said she called her work and said she lost track of time and was on her way.

At one point, Allgood let her go and she went to work where a friend took her to a hospital and they met with police.

Defense Attorney Calvin Campbell is scheduled to cross-examine the victim at 10:30 a.m. today.
