New DVD releases

“Black Knight: Special Edition” (2001) – Martin Lawrence plus time travel equals high comedy, at least in the warped minds of some comedic film producers. Hey, it beats “Life,” if that says anything. The DVD includes audio commentary from director Gil Junger, outtakes, deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes featurettes.

“Can’t Stop the Music!” (1980) – Beg, borrow or steal the allowance money necessary to see unlimited camp comedy in its finest early ’80s form. The bearers of such cornball excess? You guessed it, the Village People, with special guest stars Steve Guttenberg and Bruce Jenner! It’s like “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” with less Beatle desecration and more gay innuendo. The DVD features a “The Village People Story” photo essay, the theatrical trailer and production stills.

“Fatal Attraction” (1987) – This is one of those pop culture landmark films that defined behavior only loosely categorized before. “Dude, watch out, she might go ‘Fatal Attraction’ on you.” The DVD considers that linguistic contribution with audio commentary by director Adrian Lyne, an alternate ending with director’s introduction, behind-the-scenes footage, a “Forever Fatal: Remembering ‘Fatal Attraction'” featurette and “Social Attraction: A Look at the Cultural Phenomenon of ‘Fatal Attraction’.”

“Highlander: The Immortal Edition” (1986) – Plant your swords in the sofa and get out all the finest geek-action paraphernalia, because nothing says “lonely Friday night” like a Christopher Lambert film. The first in a long saga of films arrives as the finest package of features to date for the movie, including: a special tin slipcase, audio commentary by director Russell Mulcahy and producers Peter Davis and William Panzer, Queen music videos, a Queen still gallery, theatrical trailers and a bonus Queen companion CD featuring songs “Princes of the Universe,” “One Year Of Love” (Extended Version) and “Friends Will Be Friends.”
