Humor supersites try to spread laughs

By J.D. Piland

Did you know a snail can sleep for three years? Or that in a lifetime, the average human eats eight spiders in his or her sleep?

It may be thought that this data was compiled through extensive research, but it was found on the Web site www.freakyhumor.com.

Freakyhumor is just one of many humor sites on the Web, but this one has far more than any other.

In the other corner, however, is the more popular www.twisted-humor.com.

Let’s see how these two stand up in the ring of side-splitting, funny ,bone-breaking Internet humor.

On the surface, the Freaks seem to be much larger than their counterpart – Frankenstein is even at the top of the screen.

As you scroll down, there are countless links to choose from, including a joke archive (separated into categories) and a picture archive.

The Freaks even have a popularity contest taking place, with the rankings of the most accessed links on the site.

Also, a feature many sites have offered lately is free e-mail. The Freaks have it too, adding to its already abundant supply of laughs.

The best part of this sleeping giant is its will to spread humor. At the bottom of the page is a list of 16 more Web sites devoted to making fun of politicians, Christmas and even yo mama.

Coming into the fight, Twisted Humor probably is the favorite because of its prominence and small, well-designed Web site.

It even boasts to be the world’s largest free humor site.

It’s so large, in fact, that you must subscribe to the Web site to get any jokes. This is, perhaps, the weakest spot of the juggernaut.

For those of us who do not want 900 e-mails a day, there isn’t much to offer on the Twisted Humor site. All that’s readily available is a Joke of the Day, Image of the Day and the Latest Program File.

The strong point, on the surface that is, is the free download offered. For the season, it’s currently called “Ebonics Christmas.”

Twisted Humor finds help from its many minions. It offers jobs though the Web site, has advertising available, submits press releases and even allows its users to make money while reading jokes.

Now who can compete with that?

The decision: Twisted Humor

While Freaky Humor may have more things available to Joe Q. Websurfer, but Twisted Humor has just as much available to the subscriber and vice versa.

The difference comes from Twisted’s many subscribers and employees.

If the Freaks were ever to meet Twisted in an alley, Twisted and his friends would definitely wail on the Freaks.
