DeKALB — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s office responded to a single car crash Tuesday in southern Los Angeles. The victim of the crash was PGA Tour player Tiger Woods, according to a new release by LA County Sheriff’s.

Woods was the only person in the vehicle, according to authorities. After Los Angeles County Fire officials extracted Woods from the vehicle using the “jaws of life,” he was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

Woods agent Mark Steinberg said Woods “suffered multiple leg injuries and is currently in surgery,” according to Golf Digest’s Daniel Rapaport.

Woods was in Los Angeles conducting tournament hosting duties at the Genesis Invitational, which benefits his TGR Foundation.

While an investigation is underway about the cause of the single car wreck, Woods has had a history of prescription drug abuse and driving while under the influence of prescription drugs.

Two month ago, Woods underwent a back procedure to relieve pressure on a disk in his back, and he was yet to be cleared to return to play.
