Salaries increase

By Jerry Lawrence | September 23, 1993

NIU President John La Tourette received approximately a 4 percent increase in salary for this fiscal year.

The increase is in accordance with the average pay increase of 5 percent the rest of NIU staff and faculty are receiving during this fiscal year.

The increase takes La Tourette's salary from the $112,116 he received last year to $116,600.

Board of Regents Chancellor Roderick Groves received a 4.5 percent increase in pay this year lifting his salary from $127,740 to $133,500. Last year, Groves requested no pay increase because of budget constraints in the Chancellor's office.

The Regents govern NIU, Illinois State University in Normal and Sangamon State University in Springfield.

ISU President Tom Wallace will receive the same salary and increase as La Tourette. SSU President Naomi Lynn will receive $111,945 this fiscal year.

The salary figures were discussed at Thursday's meeting of the Regents in Springfield.

The salary figures are for fiscal year 1993 which ran from July 1, 1992 to June 30, 1993 and for this fiscal year, FY 94 which began on July 1.
