Music to ears

November 6, 1990

Hats off to Marc Albert's column regarding what was really popular in the ‘60s and '70s. Now, I don't feel so bad having actually liked the Bay City Rollers' song "Saturday Night" in 1975, not to mention owning both the "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease"...

Locke outdated

November 6, 1990

I am responding to Mike Murvihill's letter that appeared Nov. 1. In the letter, Mr. Murvihill argues we would be justified in making a first strike against Iraq because we are already in a state of war with Iraq according to Lockean political theory....

Safe Passage reaches out to abuse victims

By Michelle Landrum | November 6, 1990

Domestic violence is a pattern repeated millions of times each year in American households. It follows a cycle of violence that often deceives the abused person, starting with a rise in tension where the abuser looks for a scapegoat to vent his anger....

Fully persecute

November 6, 1990

After reading the article about the harassed pizza delivery person, I had to read it again to confirm that such insensitive behavior took place on this, or any other, university campus. How can a tragic event like this occur on campus and there be what...

Tasteless comic

November 5, 1990

I'm writing about the Bob McBob comic strip in the Wednesday, August 29 issue of the Northern Star. The truly tasteless comic made lIght of the recent death of guitar great Stevie Ray Vaughan.

He was one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and his music touched a great number of people. I for one was left speechless after seeing his performance on Sunday night, and I'm very grateful to have the opportunity that so many will never get since his tragic death.]]

I will be mourning his death for quite some time to come, and I hope people realize what a tragic loss his death really was instead of making ignorant and unfeeling jokes about it. I'm very disappointed in the poor judgement shown in printing the disrespectful comic.
