Bulls exceed expectations in Rose’s absence

By Brian Earle | January 24, 2013

For all the talk about how bad the Bulls would be without star point guard Derrick Rose, they have exceeded peoples expectations. Rose has not seen any action this season as he has been recovering from a knee injury he suffered in the first round of the...

Bulls keeping quiet in East

By Matt Hopkinson | July 9, 2012

We’ve all had that moment, one day we wake up and it seems like everyone around is experiencing or doing great things and we’re sitting on the couch in our underwear eating soggy cereal. Well, even if you haven’t, this is effectively the scenario...

Thibodeau’s explanation is all bull

By Jimmy Johnson | April 29, 2012

It’s one thing to leave your starters in to close out a game. But it’s another situation when a team can taste victory, but your starters are still out there. That was the scene Friday at the United Center in the final minutes between the Chicago...

The Rant: Ripping into Rip

By Jimmy Johnson | April 4, 2012

It’s time to forget the notion Richard Hamilton is going to contribute for the Chicago Bulls.

I, for one, am waiting for a collage featuring Hamilton sitting on the Bulls’ bench holding his head up and sporting his egg white headband.

It’s funny how Hamilton was pegged as the acquisition to get the Bulls past the Miami Heat.

Instead, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade will likely blow past him if these two teams meet in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Hamilton hasn’t been a huge disappointment, though, if you didn’t have pie-in-the-sky expectations for him.

Look at the facts: prior to joining the Bulls, Hamilton’s combined minutes from the regular season and playoffs was 32,580.

He’s old, beat up and with it being a condensed NBA season, he’s out of place.

The Bulls’ only chance to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy will come down to getting top-notch performances from Derrick Rose, Carlos Boozer, Joakim Noah and Luol Deng, and not from Mr. Glass.

The Rant: Lucas is balling out of his mind

By Jimmy Johnson | March 20, 2012

I thought I’d never say this, but, John Lucas III can play, folks. The Chicago Bulls’ teeny-tiny backup point guard has carved opposing defenses lately in place of the on-and-off injured Derrick Rose. When Bulls fans were introduced to Lucas this...

The Rant: Cut the NBA season moving forward

Thanks to the NBA lockout, this year's season was shortened from the regular 82 games to 66.Teams, like the Chicago Bulls, are facing more injuries and fatigue as they have to play as many as five games in a week, and sometimes even three games in a row.Derrick...
