Summer may be winding down, but you don’t have to. Check out these local events and activites:

Today

Get ready for a night of music and entertainment. Wooden Box Theater will hold a Nite of the Spartans live music event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at PJ’s Courthouse Tavern, 202 W. State St. The show will include performances by Katelyn Elizabeth, Dan Hayes and Daerielle Culver, among other performers.

Tuesday

Stock up on fresh fruits, veggies and more at the Sycamore Farmers Market. The event, which also features live music, will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Somonauk Road & Elm St.

Wednesday

Use your spare time to learn a new hobby. A beginner’s acrylic painting class for adults will be held at the Sycamore Public Library, 103 E. State St. The free class, which will be taught by instructor David Zoberis, will allow attendees to learn the basics of acrylics and go home with a piece of art. Sign up by calling a representative at 815-895-2500.

Thursday

Tune into some smooth jazz at the Sycamore Summer Concert Series, which will feature the Black Tie Jazz Trio. The free concert series, which features a different band each Thursday, will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Good Tymes Shelter on the corner of Airport Road & Route 64.

Friday

Grab some blankets and chairs and enjoy a movie in the park. Disney superhero comedy Big Hero 6 will be shown for free on an inflatable screen in Hopkins Park, 1403 Sycamore Rd. The showing will be part of Poolapalooza, a swimming pool themed event that will honor the DeKalb Park District’s 80th anniversary. The movie will begin at 8 p.m.

Saturday

Show off your singing skills (or lack thereof) at karaoke night at Hometown Sports Bar & Grill, 241 E. Lincoln Highway. The event, which takes place at 9 p.m. every Thursday and Saturday, features a selection of hundreds of songs, including new songs and classics.

Sunday
