AP: Underwood, Pritzker keep seats after 2022 midterm elections

DeKALB – Governor J.B. Pritzker and 14th Congressional District Representative Lauren Underwood won reelection, according to the Associated Press.

The 2022 Illinois midterm election results aren’t final until all ballots have been counted. DeKalb County will count ballots until Nov. 21.

GOVERNOR

Governor J.B. Pritzker, D-Ill., wins reelection, according to the Associated Press.

Pritzker is projected to win the gubernatorial race in Illinois over his competitor Darren Bailey, according to AP. As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Pritzker was in the lead in the state at 53.8 percent and in DeKalb County with 52 percent. Pritzker will serve his second term as governor of Illinois since he took office in 2018

BILL REDPATH – LIBERTARIAN

Senator Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., is projected to win her second term in the midterm elections, according to the Associated Press, defeating lawyer Kathy Salvi at 55.8 percent in the state and 54 percent in DeKalb County as of 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Duckworth, having served in the Senate since 2017, will serve her second term in office.

The Associated Press has not declared a winner. As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Kwame Raoul had the lead in the state with 53.6 percent and in DeKalb County with 51 percent of the votes. Raoul has served as Illinois’ 42nd attorney general since 2019.

SECRETARY OF STATE

DAN BRADY – REPUBLICAN

ALEXI GIANNOULIAS – DEMOCRATIC

JON STEWART – LIBERTARIAN

The Associated Press has not declared a winner, however, Dan Brady has conceded to Alexi Giannoulias, according to the Chicago Tribune. As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Giannoulias had the lead in the state with 53.5 percent and in DeKalb County with 51 percent of the votes. Giannoulias served as Illinois’ 72nd treasurer from 2007 to 2011. 

REPRESENTATIVE FOR 14th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

SCOTT R. GRYDER – REPUBLICAN

LAUREN UNDERWOOD – DEMOCRATIC

Lauren Underwood has been announced to win the re-election, according to the Associated Press. As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Lauren Underwood had the lead in the state with 54.1 percent and 55 percent in DeKalb County. In 2018, Underwood was elected to Illinois’ 14th congressional district and won reelection in 2020.

TASHA SIMS – REPUBLICAN

LINH NGUYEN – DEMOCRATIC

The Associated Press has not declared a winner. As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Tasha Sims had the lead in DeKalb County with 52 percent of the votes. Sims has served in DeKalb County government as a public servant for 14 years, according to her campaign website.

SHANNON L. TERESI – REPUBLICAN

SUSANA A. MENDOZA – DEMOCRATIC

DEIRDRE McCLOSKEY – LIBERTARIAN

The Associated Press has not declared a winner. As of 5:30 p.m., Susana A. Mendoza had the lead in the state with 56.3 percent and in DeKalb County with 53 percent of the votes. In 2018, Mendoza won the election for comptroller general and was re-elected after the Republican candidate conceded.

The Associated Press has not declared a winner. As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Michael Frerichs had the lead in the state with 53.5 percent of the votes and 49 percent in DeKalb County. 

REPRESENTATIVE IN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY 76th REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT

JASON HASKELL – REPUBLICAN

LANCE YEDNOCK – DEMOCRATIC

The Associated Press has not declared a winner. As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Lance Yednock had the lead in the state with 58.3 percent and in DeKalb County with 58 percent of the votes. Yednock has served as the 76th District representative since 2019, according to the Illinois General Assembly.

As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Stewart Ogilvie had the lead with 27 percent, while Laurie Emmer had 25 percent, Brett Johansen had 25 percent and Elizabeth K. Lundeen had 24 percent.
