Here are some exciting activities to participate in this Saturday in DeKalb and at NIU.

Lavender Bath Salts Workshop

From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. the Dekalb Public Library, located at 309 Oak St., is hosting a relaxation workshop where teens and adults can learn to make a lavender bath salt. The workshop is free and open to the public. This event will take place in the Zimmerman Meeting room inside the library. For more information, contact Grace, the organizer, at [email protected].

 

James the Magician

From 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m, James Ember, a magician who’s been performing since 1986, comes to the Dekalb Public Library. Ember shows off his magnificent talent with humor and audience interaction. He has performed around the world at weddings, in the streets and on stages. This event is free and is for ages 5 and up. No registration is required. Walking Beer Tour

From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. join certified Beer Server Jovon on a walking beer tour throughout downtown Dekalb. This event is for people ages 21 and over and includes a fun, educational guided tour. Beer will be provided throughout: six 5-ounce pours and three 6-ounce pours. The walk will take roughly 26 minutes and will walk you to Keg & Kernel by Tangled Roots Brewing Company, Byers Brewing Company and Forge Brewhouse. Tickets cost $59 and can be purchased here.

 

Good Girls Take Prom

NIU’s The Good Girl Movement is hosting a prom from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Duke Ellington Ballroom inside the Holmes Student Center. The theme is winter wonderland, and formal attire is required. This is a benefit gala as well as a prom. Proceeds will go to support a high school senior prom. Student tickets are $10 and non-NIU student tickets are $15. Guests are welcome, but their ticket must be purchased by an NIU student. Tickets can be purchased online at NIU tickets.
