Fill in the Blank: Online classes are…

…Great
Online classes can be great at times, because if you are like me and do not like talking to people, then online classes, especially asynchronous ones are great, because then you do not have to talk to people. You can also just do all of the work by yourself without having to worry about being in groups for group projects or having to talk in the classroom. Online asynchronous classes are also self-paced, which is great, because you can do the assignments on your own time, as long as you turn the assignments in by the due date. Some professors will even post all of the assignments for the whole semester, so that the class is truly self-paced.
…Stressful
Online classes can also be stressful at times, because some people can not find the motivation while taking online classes. A lot of people tend to forget deadlines and therefore do not do the assignments, which results in poor grades in the classes. People also prefer to learn in person, because everyone learns differently. Some people are visual learners, and prefer to see certain things in person, such as powerpoints and diagrams. People tend to become very distracted when online learning. There are many distractions that cause people to lose focus, such as phones, eating, loud roommates and even other commitments.
…More difficult than in-person classes
Online classes can also be more difficult than in-person classes for many reasons. One important reason is that there tends to be a lack of communication between students and professors. Even though professors still have office hours for online classes, it is more difficult to get in touch with professors. For in-person classes, it is much easier to talk to professors, since you are there in-person for the class.
There are both pros and cons to online versus in-person classes. I have all of my classes online right now and I love it, but some people prefer in-person classes.
