Engel keeps perfect mark

Is collegiate tennis really this easy? That’s the question NIU men’s standout Marty Engel must be asking himself following the Bowling Green State University Fall Invitational this weekend.

Engel took his second consecutive No. 1 singles tourney title, with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 showing in the championship bout. The Glen Ellyn native ran his collegiate record to a perfect 5-0 mark.

Steve Senter and Andy Schoeberlein also tasted success, claiming the crown in the second doubles flight. In other action, Dustin Dobrin took third place in second singles, as did Schoeberlein in sixth singles. Paul Gill also captured second.
