If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, you only have to look as far as the West Campus Courts to see some great tennis.

The NIU women’s tennis team will be hosting the Huskie Invitational Friday through Sunday. The teams participating in the tournament are: Ball State University, University of Cincinnati, Southern Illinois University, SIU-Edwardsville, and St. Ambrose University.

“I really feel that if our whole team plays like they are capable of playing, any of our players could be in the finals,” said head coach Patty Groth.

The toughest teams are going to be Ball State, Cincinnati, and SIU, Groth said.

“We’ve got a good team with a lot of depth,” Groth said. “I’ve got a lot of confidence in them.”

This will be the first tournament for NIU at the new site.

“We want the fans to come out and watch some great tennis,” said Groth. “I expect us to do very well.”

The matches will begin on Friday at 3 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m.
