DeKALB – Senior Jasmine Ly’s record-tying performance at the Johnie Imes Invitational helped her secure women’s golf’s first ever Huskie of the Week honor.
Ly scored a 67 in the second round of the Johnie Imes Invitational on Tuesday, tying an NIU record for the lowest-scoring round in school history. Ly shot a 218 over three rounds, two over par, good for 14th place out of 73 golfers.
The Huskies finished 11th out of 13 teams at the Johnie Imes Invitational, with Ly being NIU’s top golfer. As a team, the Huskies finished 42 over par, 906, in three rounds of play.
Ly’s performance earned MAC Golfer of the Week recognition on Friday, the third time in her collegiate career that she has received this honor.
The Huskies will travel to Lakewood Ranch, Florida, for their next event at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational. The tournament will be a multi-day event starting on Oct. 14 and ending on Oct. 16. Live stats are not yet available.
The Northern Star sports section’s Huskie of the Week is voted for on a weekly basis. Student-athletes considered for this week’s edition were chosen based on their weekly performance in competitions taking place from Sept. 25 to Oct. 1.
