After setting an NIU school record in the high jump in her first collegiate competition, freshman Arianna Calloway was named the MAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.

Clearing 1.80 meters, Calloway secured first place in a tie-breaker at Notre Dame’s Blue & Gold Invitational on Friday. She was unable to further the record and clear 1.83 meters but bested Notre Dame senior Madison Schmidt in attempts needed to clear 1.75 meters.

This NIU record currently holds the No. 1 spot in the MAC this season and is tied for fourth place in the country.

The NIU record was previously held by Chennel Palmer, when she cleared 1.77 meters at the Illini Classic in 2016.

The NIU track and field team will compete next on Jan. 13 in Iowa City, Iowa, when it competes in the Hawkeye Invitational.
