As adults, we may have future goals to start our own business. From Etsy shops to bookstores, we can do anything we set our mind to.
NIU students provided their thoughts on what business they would start.
Jersey Kimbrough, a first-year medical laboratory sciences major, wants to help children.
Q: “If you could start any business, what business would you start?”
A: “Anything that can help work with, like, children, probably help them in the future, something like that, something that supports children.”
Sebastian Santellanes, a sophomore computer science major, wants to provide jobs to fellow computer science majors.
Q: “If you could start any business, what business would you start?”
A: “Honestly, a small business that involves a lot of computer science majors as well. Mostly, the main issue that I keep seeing is that they’re not able to get a lot of jobs, so I could probably give them, like, small independent jobs that would help the community, mostly local.”
Zoe Crain, a junior Earth, environment and atmosphere major, would start an Etsy shop.
Q: “If you could start any business, what business would you start?”
A: I guess it would probably be like an Etsy business where I sell the stuff I crochet, maybe.”
Khavoni Norris, a sophomore finance major, wants to open a cafe in the future.
Q: “If you could start any business, what business would you start?”
A: “I would want to have a cafe, specifically like next to a beach. And yeah, that’s the business I would want to start.”
