Three NIU women’s tennis players have been named to the 2025 All Mid-American Conference teams, the most in school history.
For the first time since 2017, a Huskie has been selected for the All MAC first team. Senior Maria Dzemeshkevich was awarded the honor after winning 21 singles matches this season. Primarily playing at No. 1 singles, Dzemeshkevich holds a 15-8 spring record in addition to being named MAC Singles Player of the Week on March 10.
Along with the first team selection for Dzemeshkevich, freshman Lucia Yecora and junior Nataly Ninova were named to the All MAC second team.
In her debut season, Yecora posted an 18-2 record in singles matches. Losing only one match in conference play, Yecora was named the MAC Singles Player of the Week twice in her freshman year.
Breaking the record for most singles wins in a season, Ninova ended the 2024-2025 season with a 30-8 singles record. Ninova leads the team with a 21-4 record in the spring and was named the first MAC Singles Player of the Week of the spring season on Jan. 20.
The Huskies take on the University of Toledo in the first round of the MAC Championship tournament at 1 p.m. Thursday in Toledo, Ohio. Live stats will be updated on IonCourt.
