Drobushevich named MAC Co-Player of the Week

By Northern Star Staff

First-year outfielder Nick Drobushevich was named Mid-American Conference Co-Player of the Week Monday by the MAC.

Drobushevich was locked in, hitting .688 in the Huskies’ 1-3 week. NIU fell to the University of Illinois Chicago April 9 before dropping two of three the Western Michigan over the weekend.

The young Huskie is currently riding an eight-game hitting streak and a four-game multi-hit game streak.

Drobushevich currently has the second-best batting average at .311 on the team behind first-year catcher/infielder Wyatt O’Brien.

While also hitting for a high average, slugging hasn’t been a problem for Drobushevich. His two homers and 22 RBIs on the year rank him for second on NIU’s baseball team. He also leads the team in stolen bases with 11 this season.

Drobushevich and his team will be back on the diamond 4:05 p.m. today against the University of Iowa, as he looks to defend his Co-Player of the Week title.
