Women’s tennis drops in MAC standings, 4 games left to play

Women’s tennis traveled to Toledo, Ohio on Friday to play against the University of Toledo, taking a 6-1 defeat.

The Huskies (6-10, 1-3 MAC) picked up a win in their No. 1 singles match thanks to a strong performance from junior Adey Osabuohien, who defeated Toledo sophomore Sidnay Huck.

NIU’s loss dropped the team to seventh place in the MAC with just four games remaining. After a solid start to the season, the Huskies have struggled to keep pace in the conference.

They will return this week against the University at Buffalo at 1 p.m. Friday in Toledo, Ohio.

No. 5: Claire Aleck (UT) def. Meghan Montgomerie (NIU), 6-4, 6-2.

No. 6: Lauren Thai (UT) won by forfeit.

Doubles

No. 1: Mazzola/Huck (UT) def. Osabuohien/Youel (NIU), 6-4.

No. 2: Thai/Miller (UT) def. Alvarez/Montgomerie (NIU), 6-3

No. 3: No contest.
