Women’s basketball will host the Central Michigan Chippewas in the first round of the MAC Tournament Monday in DeKalb.

Based on standings and tiebreakers, Saturday results are irrelevant; NIU will host Central Michigan no matter what happens.

NIU is 1-1 against Central Michigan this season. It lost, 56-43, Jan. 10 in Mount Pleasant, Mich., and won, 69-62, Feb. 25 in DeKalb.

The Huskies (12-15, 8-9) helped secure the home tourney game by beating the Rockets (17-11, 10-7 MAC), 68-64, Wednesday at the Convocation Center. NIU is 9-3 at home.

The Huskies led by as many as 11 points, 60-49 with 6:33 to play, before the Rockets made their push. Toledo used a 12-4 run to pull within three points, 64-61 with 59 seconds remaining.

Sophomore guard Ally Lehman sank a pair of free throws to push the Huskies’ lead to 66-61 with 51 seconds left. The Rockets intentionally fouled after making a 3-pointer, but Corral stepped up to the line with four seconds left in regulation and drained both free throw attempts to seal the game, 68-64.
