Amanda Corral, women’s basketball senior guard, picked up her second MAC West Player of the Week award in as many weeks, the conference announced today.

Corral exploded for 31 points Saturday against the Akron Zips after netting a mere six points Wednesday against the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks. Corral guided the biggest comeback win under fifth-year head coach Kathi Bennett when she scored 20 of NIU’s final 32 points Saturday in a 62-56 upset of the Zips.

In addition to the 37 points, Corral totaled seven rebounds, three blocks, two assists and one steal over the two-game span.

Corral’s MAC West Player of the Week award comes one week after she earned the conference honor for the first time since Nov. 21, 2011.
