A DeKalb man forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s bedroom and stabbed her current boyfriend several times Wednesday night, according to a police news release.

Mustafa C. Sahin, 19, of DeKalb, is charged with attempted first degree murder (Class X Felony), home invasion (Class X Felony) and Aggravated Battery (Class 3 Felony). The victim was transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital and later Rockford Memorial Hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Police say they responded to a reported stabbing at 9:50 p.m. at an apartment in the 200 block of Deerpath Lane. Officers found the victim but said Sahin had fled. The knife used in the alleged attack was found near the scene.

Police found Sahin about two hours later at his family’s home in the 3000 block of South Emerald in Chicago. Sahin was then brought to DeKalb, interviewed and charged.
